Daniel Hursey, bassoon
Bassoonist Daniel Hursey began bassoon at the age of 12, later studying with Michelle Simmons of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. A scholarship recipient, he received his Bachelor of Music in Bassoon Performance from the Florida State University College of Music.
Mr. Hursey has performed with the Tucson Symphony, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Northwest Florida Orchestra, the Orlando Philharmonic, and Valdosta Symphony. Beginning in 2006, Mr. Hursey was the second bassoonist with the Tallahassee Symphony for three years and performed regularly around the area. An internationally recognized musician, Daniel Hursey has been heard performing with the Orquestra Sinfónica de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. In the summer of 2010, Daniel performed with the Lake Tahoe Music Festival.
Mr. Hursey has recently completed his Master of Music in Bassoon Performance from the University of Arizona and is currently pursuing his Doctorate degree. He has studied bassoon with Jeff Keesecker, William Dietz, Margaret Dudley, and Shelly Simmons.
